The Fight of Your Life

The Fight of Your Life

I believe even more now than ever before, that the one thing that the enemy wishes to take from believers is their identity.  This was true back in the Garden of Eden when Lucifer tricked Eve into believing a lie.  If you recall he informed her that God did not want her to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, because then she would be like God and know things that God did not want her to know.  However, the deception in all of this is that Eve was already like God. Gen 1:26-27 (KJV)

26) And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.27) So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Therefore, the battle; the war is about knowing who you are.  It doesn’t matter where you are in your life the devil will try to attack your identity at every turn.  Interestingly, this fight increases when you begin to draw closer to God, because as you get closer to God you are going to start seeing what God thinks of you and how God sees you.  It is the mission of the enemy to keep you from gaining this knowledge.  Why?  Well, the bible tells us:

Hos 4:6 (KJV)

6) My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

Have you ever noticed that you always seem to have events scheduled around the days and times that the worship services or bible class is scheduled?  Have you noticed that you feel well all week long until it is time to come and hear the Word of God.  Have you noticed that you have not moved forward in God in a while?  Perhaps, the problem doesn’t lie with God.  Perhaps the problem lies with what you are taking in.  There is an old saying that says you are what you eat.  If this is true in the natural sense, then it would hold true in the spiritual sense.  What are you taking in to your spirit?

Do you meditate on God’s Word?  Do you pray frequently?  Do you fast?  Or have you settle for just knowing what the preacher says about God on Sunday’s and Wednesday?  You see these are important evaluations that every believer must conduct, because your identity is at stake.

The enemy does not want you to know who you are.  He does not want you to know that you were made in the image and likeness of God.  This is because if you know who you are then you won’t put up with his tricks and games.  You wouldn’t allow yourself to be caught up in certain situations.  There are places that you would not go to if you truly understood who you were.

I think about the British Royal Family.  Prince William for example does not walk into a place and hope that he will be treated with respect, but rather he walks in and expects it, because he is royalty.  When Prince William wants to get, something done he doesn’t ask for permission and hope that people side with him.  He just does it and expects that people will fall in line.  I know what you are thinking.  You are thinking, well Prince William is royalty and I am not.  However, I disagree with that because the bible says:

1Pet 2:9 (KJV)

9) But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

You see we must know who we are because there is so much work left to be done.  Being a Christian is not just accomplished by going to Sunday morning worship service, or bible classes, and singing in the choir etc.  Being a Christian is accomplished by living a life that reflects Christ.  One thing that you will never see in the bible is a moment when Christ did not know who He was.  Christ knew who He was and what His purpose was from the day He was born until the day He finally ascended into Glory.  This is why, we found Him teaching the elders in the temple when He was only 12 years old.

Therefore, Christ wants you to know who you are in Him.  When you are in Christ you are made brand new according to
2 Corin 5:17.
Therefore, the failures of your past no longer define you and the missteps of your present won’t describe you, but your walk with Christ will determine what the future is going to be.

Brothers and sisters, we are in the fight of our lives.  The enemy does not want you to receive the knowledge of God for yourself, but resist Him.  Follow Christ, and make up in your mind that for Christ I live and for Christ I’ll die.  I will not be held back any longer.  I will not be defeated by a lessor enemy any longer.  I will not remain in the same place that I have been in for years.  But I will rise in Christ.  Why?  Because I am a child of the King who holds everything, and I am extremely blessed.

I refuse to live as anything less then what God has called me to be.  Therefore, I will fight, I will press through, I will not quit, I will not give up, and I will be victorious in Jesus Name.  This is the fight of my life to remember who I am in Christ Jesus!
